The Indian Gaming Regulatory Act and Arizona Casinos
Casinos are nothing new and can be found almost anywhere your travels take you in the United States. The Arizona is no different. If you live in Arizona or have traveled there, you have likely passed through one or more of the ever popular casinos in the desert Southwest.

Before this Act, USA 1987 the Supreme Court in California v. Cabazon Band of Mission Indians, really meant that states have no regulatory authority when it comes to Indian reservation casinos.
The Indian Gaming Regulatory Act of 1988 states and Indian tribes are allowed to regulate Class III tribal gaming, which includes all games like blackjack, slots, keno and other such related to casino-style games.
During the 1990s, there were several tribes of Arizona who had set their slot machines casinos, although none of them had Tribal-State Gaming Compact with the State. At that time, Arizona Gov. Symington believes that Native American reservations should not be allowed to have casinos, because at that time, Arizona does not allow any game to be considered outside the reservation.
The tribes of Arizona said that already allows the game to allow gaming events as horse and dog racing, bingo games for charity as well as state lotteries that were available.
The National Indian Gaming enacted legislation to clarify these rules in 1992 which said that a tribe must have a gaming compact with a state before being allowed to operate slot machines on their land.
